O Porto foi a cidade eleita para uma escapadinha, tendo como mote celebrar o meu aniversário. Começámos com um almoço perfeito no restaurante do chef Pedro Lemos, detentor de uma Estrela Michelin, localizado na Rua do Ouro e com um cenário idílico junto ao rio! Ficámos num Boutique Hotel extremamente central e de uma beleza ímpar, One Shot Palácio da Cedofeita. Revisitámos alguns dos principais monumentos, caso da Capela das Almas de Santa Catarina, da imponente Torre dos Clérigos, da icónica Livraria Lello e da magnífica Estação de São Bento. Também não podia faltar uma visita à Fundação Serralves, onde visitámos a exposição Yayoi Kusama. Para quem gosta de lojas exclusivas, recomendo uma visita à Max Mara e à nova Carolina Herrera, ambas na rua das Carmelitas.
Porto was the choice for a getaway to celebrate my birthday. We started with a perfect lunch at chef Pedro Lemos Michelin-starred restaurant, located at Rua do Ouro and with an idyllic setting by the river! We stayed in an extremely central and beautiful boutique hotel, One Shot Palácio da Cedofeita. We revisited some of the main monuments, such as the Chapel of the Souls of Santa Catarina, the imposing Clérigos Tower, the iconic Lello Bookshop and the magnificent São Bento Station. We couldn't miss a visit to the Serralves Foundation, where we saw the Yayoi Kusama exhibition. For those who like exclusive shops, I recommend a visit to Max Mara and the new Carolina Herrera, both on Rua das Carmelitas.

A Estação de São Bento é famosa pelos seus painéis de azulejos, da autoria de Jorge Colaço, os quais retratam cenas da história de Portugal e cobrem 550 metros quadrados.
São Bento Station is famous for its tile panels by Jorge Colaço, which depict scenes from Portugal's history and cover 550 square metres.
Construída em 1916 era anteriormente o Mosteiro de São Bento de Avé Maria, daí a origem do seu nome.
Built in 1916, it was formerly the Monastery of St Benedict of Ave Maria, hence the origin of its name.

Nesta altura estava patente a exposição da japonesa Yayoi Kusama 1945 - Hoje na Fundação de Serralves. Esta artista tem-se dedicado à sua arte por mais de 7 décadas, sendo considerada uma das artistas contemporâneas mais influentes do mundo. Kusama trabalha principalmente com pintura, escultura e instalações imersivas, tendo tido também uma forte ligação ao movimento de arte pop e ao minimalismo nos anos 60, influenciando artistas como Andy Warhol. A sua ligação à moda é também relevante, com colaborações com marcas como Iseey Miyake ou Louis Vuitton.
The exhibition of the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama 1945 - Today was ongoing at the Serralves Foundation. This artist has dedicated herself to her art for more than seven decades and is considered one of the world's most influential contemporary artists. Kusama works mainly with painting, sculpture and immersive installations. She also had a strong connection to the pop art movement and minimalism in the 1960s, influencing artists such as Andy Warhol. Her connection to fashion is also relevant, with collaborations with brands such as Iseey Miyake and Louis Vuitton.

Kusama viveu muitos períodos conturbados da História que a atormentaram, as cores vibrantes das suas obras dão-nos alguma esperança no futuro: "Eu kusama, sou a Alice no País das Maravilhas moderna. Tal como Alice, que atravessou o espelho, eu Kusama (que vivi durante anos no meu famoso quarto construído para o efeito e inteiramente coberto de espelhos), abri um mundo de fantasia e liberdade."
Uma curiosidade, a artista decidiu internar-se voluntariamente num hospital psiquiátrico em 1977, onde reside até hoje.
Kusama has lived through many troubled periods in history that have tormented her, and the vibrant colours of her works give us some hope for the future: "I, Kusama, am the modern Alice in Wonderland. Like Alice, who went through the looking glass, I, Kusama (who lived for years in my famous purpose-built bedroom entirely covered in mirrors), have opened up a world of fantasy and freedom."
Interestingly, the artist decided to voluntarily check herself into a psychiatric hospital in 1977, where she still lives today.

O One Shot Palácio da Cedofeita, para além de bastante central, está inserido num antigo palacete histórico, que data de 1885. Este imponente edifício serviu como residência para famílias nobres da cidade e, não obstante ter sido requalificado e convertido em hotel de charme de 5 estrelas, não perdeu a sua essência.
The One Shot Palácio da Cedofeita is not only very central, but it is also housed in an old historic palace dating back to 1885. This imposing building served as a residence for some of the city's noble families and, although it has been refurbished and converted into a charming 5-star hotel, it has not lost its essence.
